Here
in Angola we do ministry with a number of handicapped
children. There are so many children who suffer from
polio here. Since arriving to Angola at the end of
November we have helped in two retreats for handicapped
children. Each retreat having about 100
children, most of whom were suffering from polio and have no
use of their legs. During the retreats we play games,
share the Gospel, and feed the children. At Christmas
time we were also able to give each child a gift as one of
the oil companies donated many toys to our ministry.
These retreats have touched my life as I saw such joy in the children as they played games such as
hand soccer and musical plates, games designed specifically
for them as they can't run. Also these games gave them a
chance to play and compete with other kids at the same
level. After the games we presented the Gospel with a
program consisting of singing, puppets, object lessons,
stories, our Bible lesson, and an altar call at the end. I
will never forget that moment of watching and praying with
these children to receive Jesus as their Savior.
