The New Year is a time to reflect
and make a fresh start. It is a time to be challenged by new goals. I
believe as Christians we should be asking God what He wants for our lives in
this new season. What does God want to do this year? One thing I know He
wants us to do is to minister to people. What better way to start
ministering than by being with little ones who are just beginning their
lives. Children are the future of this world. They learn so much in their
formative years about God and the world around them. These children are our
future and they need to be taught that people and God care about them. How
will they know unless we demonstrate His love to them.
You may wonder what does a child so young really take in? Candy Simonson
puts it this way, “What kinds of concepts can they learn? Simple and
basic ones to be sure, but they can learn a love for God, respect for each
other, self-control, and self-esteem.”
To all of you prospective volunteers I challenge you to step out and make a
difference in the lives of our children. To those of you who are already
volunteering, I commend you for your faithfulness and service. I encourage
you to be a better teacher or helper. Ask yourself what you can do to
improve your class. Think of ways to be creative with your teaching methods.
Ask God to help you to minister to the kids in a more effective way. If you
do these things I believe that God will bless you!
Sincerely,
Infant/Toddler Director
